Temperature Converter
Convert a temperature into Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin at once.
Temperature conversion formulas
- °F = °C × 9/5 + 32 (°F = °C × 1.8 + 32)
- °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9
- K = °C + 273.15
Celsius and Kelvin have the same size of degree; only the zero point differs. 0 K is absolute zero: −273.15 °C, or about −459.67 °F.
Calculations use exact fractions, so there are no floating-point errors, and the result is rounded to 4 decimal places only when it is displayed.
Examples
- 0 °C = 32 °F = 273.15 K
- 100 °C = 212 °F = 373.15 K
- 36.5 °C = 97.7 °F
- −40 °C = −40 °F (the one temperature where the two scales agree)
- 0 °F ≈ −17.7778 °C (−160/9 °C)
- 0 K = −273.15 °C = −459.67 °F (absolute zero)
Notes
- Negative temperatures can be entered. Temperatures below absolute zero (−273.15 °C, 0 K, −459.67 °F) do not exist, so they are rejected.
- Kelvin is written as K, without the word "degree".
- The Rankine scale (°R) is not included.
- Values that do not divide evenly are rounded to 4 decimal places (for example, 0 °F = −17.7777… °C is shown as −17.7778 °C).

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Multiply the Celsius temperature by 9/5 (1.8) and add 32. For example, 36.5 °C is 36.5 × 1.8 + 32 = 97.7 °F.
How do I convert Fahrenheit to Celsius?
Subtract 32 from the Fahrenheit temperature and multiply by 5/9. For example, 212 °F is (212 − 32) × 5/9 = 100 °C.
At what temperature are Celsius and Fahrenheit equal?
At −40 degrees: −40 °C = −40 °F.
